Rustic Herby Tea Bread recipe

Herby Tea Bread

Make this soft and pliable herby Tea bread recipe using our Herby Blend which is available in the Palette box of 4. A great bread recipe  for your family, friends, lunch, picnics or gift to someone who might need cheering up.

INGREDIENTS

330g Bread Flour

1 tablespoonful of Butter

Half a teaspoon of Salt

10g of dry active yeast

2 tablespoonful of natural Yogurt  or Kefir

1 tablespoonful of our Herby blend

Quarter of a teaspoon of our Holy Grail blend

175ml of lukewarm Water

20g of flour for dusting

METHOD

In a mixing bowl add (strictly in this order) the Salt, Bread flour, Yeast, Holy Grail and Herby blend

Mix everything together till it’s well combined.

Add the Butter and Yogurt or Kefir

Using your Kitchen Mixer and the bread hook start on a medium setting

Gradually add the lukewarm water till you have a soft dough consistency.

Increase the setting and let your dough mix.

Your dough is ready when it comes off the edges of the mixing bowl. A perfect indication you have a nice soft dough. This can take 8-10 minutes.

Add a little flour to shape the dough and cover with a cling film and place in a warm place till the dough doubles up in size.

TIPS

The inclusion of Yogurt or Kefir helps your dough rise faster.

Warm up your oven to 150*c , open the oven door and leave your covered dough on top of the oven door. The indirect heat will quicken the proofing process.

I use either Polenta or Corn flour to spread over my baking tray to bake my breads. When baked the Corn flour or Polenta gives the base of the bread a somewhat stone baked effect

Equally you can butter your baking tray and sprinkle a little bit of the bread flour over it.

******

Once your dough has risen cut into 6 equal parts on a floured surface

Shape each dough into an oblong shape and place it on the baking tray.

Sprinkle some of the bread flour over the bread and cover with a cling film for a second proofing.

Once risen place the bread in the centre of the preheated oven and bake for 18 minutes. Turn the heat up to 180*c and bake further for 5 minutes.

Remove your bread from the oven and let it rest for 10 minutes.

Perfect bread for your sandwiches and picnics.

Enjoy!
